EnID — Login Solution
Unified authentication experience across multiple digital services. Research, architecture, and interaction design.

Background
Multiple Lyse services required users to authenticate separately. Each had its own login flow, branding, and error states. Users who needed access to more than one service were frustrated by the fragmentation — and the teams maintaining these flows were duplicating work.
EnID was the solution: a single, shared identity layer that any Lyse service could integrate with.
The challenge
Authentication is one of the highest-stakes moments in any digital product. The cost of a bad experience is immediate — failed login means the user can't access anything. The cost of an insecure experience is worse.
The brief called for a flow that was simple enough for first-time users, fast enough for daily users, and flexible enough to be used by very different services with different context and branding.
Login is the first experience. If it's confusing or broken, the user starts with a deficit of trust. We can't afford that.
Process
The project started with research across three existing login implementations and interviews with users who had struggled with them. The key insight: most login failures weren't password failures — they were entry-point failures. Users arrived at login pages without context and made wrong choices (wrong account, wrong service) before they had a chance to enter credentials.
From this we designed a "who are you?" orientation step before credentials — a single, low-friction question that contextualised the rest of the flow and dramatically reduced misdirection errors.
Outcome
EnID launched in 2021 and became the authentication layer for multiple Lyse digital products. Error rates in authentication dropped significantly in the first month post-launch. The shared component approach reduced engineering effort for new service integrations from weeks to days.
